THE OFFALY CANAL
Shannon Navigation and Flood Relief Canal
The 4 kilometer Offaly Canal by-passes Meelick weir and follows the route of the old Clonahenogue Canal. It is designed for both River Shannon flood relief and Navigation for ships to EU Waterways Class Va Standard.
